OUR SERVICES
At Kaseane, we provide a range of knowledge management services tailored to meet the unique needs of your business.
At Kaseane, we firmly believe that effective management of your knowledge assets demands a deep understanding of their inherent nature. We refrain from simply layering additional information systems onto existing frameworks. Rather, our mission is to equip you with robust knowledge management methodologies tailored to your unique needs
OVERVIEW
01. Mapping of Critical Knowledge
-
Mapping of Critical Knowledge is a fundamental step in any organization's knowledge management journey.
-
This service involves the systematic division of the organization into distinct domains or functions, followed by the identification of critical knowledge within each domain.
-
Organizations can prioritize their efforts and resources by analyzing various factors such as :
-
Knowledge rarity,
-
Business criticality,
-
Difficulty of acquisition,
-
Difficulty of application.
-
02. Codification of Tacit Knowledge
-
Codification of Tacit Knowledge is the process of capturing and documenting tacit knowledge that resides within the minds of individuals.
-
Through the utilization of the MASK method, Kaseane helps extract, structure, and preserve critical tacit knowledge within organizations.
-
By transforming tacit knowledge into explicit formats such as knowledge books, organizations can facilitate :
-
Knowledge retention,
-
Knowledge transfer,
-
Knowledge sharing across different functions and departments.
-
03. Training of KM Specialists
-
Training of KM Specialists is aimed at empowering professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive effective knowledge management practices within their organizations.
-
By enhancing the capabilities of KM specialists, organizations can foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement while maximizing the value of their knowledge assets.
-
Kaseane offers comprehensive seminars covering critical aspects of knowledge management, including:
-
Knowledge mapping,
-
KM maturity assessment,
-
Innovation maturity assessment,
-
Strategic analysis from a knowledge perspective.
-
04. Co-Design & Accompaniment of Global KM Plans
-
Co-Design and Accompaniment of Global KM Plans involves a collaborative effort to develop and implement customized KM strategies tailored to the unique needs and objectives of the organization.
-
By integrating knowledge management into the broader organizational strategy, businesses can effectively leverage their knowledge assets to drive sustainable growth and competitive advantage.
-
Kaseane works closely with organizations to :
-
Analyze their needs,
-
Design comprehensive KM plans, in particular to align the KM efforts on the strategy,
-
Provide ongoing support throughout the implementation process.

01.
MAPPING OF CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE
Mapping critical knowledge is a fundamental practice grounded in logic :
-
We cannot manage what we can’t see (and we cannot see tacit knowledge).
-
Therefore, it is always advisable to render the knowledge domains visible, in particular by mapping them.
-
-
We cannot manage everything.
-
Therefore, it is equally advisable to determine what is critical (and why it is so, which implies to use criteria) in order to focus on it.
-
We have developed 2 methods :
-
A comprehensive method, which is suited to complex sectors such as energy and defense.
-
A simplified method, which yields excellent results across all industries.
Who should map the critical knowledge :
-
R&D department managers,
-
Managers in charge of mergers and acquisitions,
-
Managers in charge of analyzing and reducing risks on complex processes such as :
-
Complex unitary constructions (defense),
-
Complex production processes,
-
Complex supply chains,
-
Etc.
-
Applications :
-
All Sectors :
-
The comprehensive method is essentially used in Defense, Energy and Transport Infrastructure to
reduce complexity and establish documented KM priorities, in particular with the aim of de-risking
critical processes. -
The simplified method is used in industries and services to establish documented KM priorities in a
wide spectrum of situations (R&D consolidation, knowledge transfers, mergers and acquisitions, splits,
etc.)
-

02.
CODIFICATION OF TACIT KNOWLEDGE
The method we use to codify (or elicit) tacit knowledge is called MASK : Method for Analyzing and Structuring Knowledge.
-
It was first used in 1993 to secure critical knowledge related to the French nuclear deterrence and has since been deployed in numerous large international organizations.
-
A MASK project starts with a Scope in order to define the perimeter and is followed by a series of interviews of the expert(s). The final deliverable of a MASK project is a Knowledge Book.
Who should create Knowledge Books :
-
R&D department managers seeking to safeguard critical knowledge domains before the retirement of key experts (anticipation is essential, hence the importance of critical knowledge mapping),
-
HR managers tasked with consistently training a large number of specialists,
-
Managers overseeing industrial transfers and transitions.
Applications :
-
All sectors :
-
To secure critical knowledge threatened by the departure of key experts, to secure critical knowledge domains prior to or following major organization splits / restructuring, to secure industrial transfers, to produce training supports on complex subjects
-
03.
TRAINING OF KM SPECIALISTS
Enhancing situational awareness involves participating in a series of mini-seminars covering :
-
The mapping of critical knowledge,
-
The maturity of their organization with regard to KM,
-
The maturity of their organization with regard to Innovation,
-
The understanding and accompaniment of Communities of Practice,
-
The strategic analysis from a knowledge perspective.
We deliver these seminars to :
-
Universities
-
Public Organizations
-
Private companies
We also offer training for KM specialists in the MASK method, enabling them to proficiently codify knowledge. However, it's crucial to consider that :
-
Specific profiles are required :
-
Generalist engineers,
-
Individuals with insatiable curiosity,
-
Capacity to demonstrate empathy.
-
-
This training program may extend over multiple projects or years, ensuring comprehensive skill development.
Applications :
-
All sectors :
-
To empower knowledge management specialists in effectively managing and leveraging knowledge as a productive resource.
-
To train KM specialists on best practices, to raise situation awareness on the conditions for innovation.
-
-
Universities (business and political sciences) :
-
To raise students’ awareness of the challenges they will face due to the exponential increase of knowledge in all domains.
-

04.
CO-DESIGN AND ACCOMPANIMENT OF GLOBAL KM PLANS
Establishing trust necessitates undertaking several smaller projects :
-
Passed this preliminary stage, we collaborate to assess your needs and develop a tailored KM plan adapted to the strategy of the organization (which implies our having access to this strategy).
We operate on multiple fronts :
-
Critical Knowledge Mapping:
-
We commence by mapping out the critical knowledge domains, providing initial recommendations.
-
-
Organizational Strategy Analysis:
-
We delve into the organization's strategy, identifying the strategic capacities necessary for its successful implementation.
-
-
Impact Assessment:
-
We assess how strategic capacities affect the organization's knowledge landscape, offering secondary recommendations (strategic alignment).
-
-
Knowledge Management Team Training:
-
Concurrently, we conduct training sessions for the KM team, enhancing their proficiency.
-
-
Software Guidance:
-
If required, we assist the KM team in identifying KM-oriented software solutions, ensuring seamless integration without affiliations to specific editors.
-
Applications :
-
Defense, Transport Infrastructure and High-Tech Industries :
-
To accompany the organization in the implementation of a knowledge management strategy across multiple programs.
-
To analyze the strategy and establish documented priorities in terms of knowledge management –
knowledge to consolidate, knowledge to acquire either internally or via strategic partnerships.
-

“It always seems strange to me to talk about knowledge management without having defined what knowledge is.”
